2020 is Scotland’s Year of Coasts and Waters and we’re going to be celebrating! Saddle Mountain Hostel is in the middle of the Great Glen, surrounded by rivers, lochs and the Caledonian Canal. Hiking the Great Glen Way, white water rafting on the River Garry and visiting our local waterfalls are just a few of the ways you can experience our spectacular inland waters. As far as the hostel itself goes, we are continuing with our rolling programme of improvements. We’ll be making a few changes to our bedrooms in April this year and reducing our maximum capacity from 24 to 22. We think that this will make staying here an even better experience for all our guests.
- In our smallest private bedroom there’ll be no more climbing up a ladder to sleep in the single bed! We’re replacing the double/single bunk arrangement so that both the double bed and single bed are on the same level. You can book this room for 3 people or 2 (as a double or twin).
- We’re moving our large private bedroom which sleeps up to 5 people to a bigger room. There’s a double bed with single bunk above and a set of bunk beds, built in storage for your luggage, some bean bags for relaxing and plenty of floor space. You can book this room for 5 people or 4 so it’s a great choice for families and groups of friends.
- We’re reducing the capacity in one of our mixed-gender dorm rooms from 6 people to 4. You can still book by the bed so it’s a great choice for solo travellers or those on a budget. It will be slightly more expensive than the remaining 6 bed dorm room but you’ll be sharing with fewer people and will have more space.

You can also call us or email us. It’s best to book in advance so that we know you’re coming and please note that until the start of April we are closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
