We’re delighted to announce that VisitScotland has awarded Saddle Mountain Hostel 5 stars! At the time of writing, only 13 Scottish hostels have been awarded 5 star status.
We’ve been graded as a 4 star hostel since we opened 8 years ago so we really are thrilled that the gradual improvements we’ve made to our facilities and service over the years have now been rewarded with the highest grading possible. We’d like to thank everyone who has helped us along the way.
Being a member of the VisitScotland Quality Assurance scheme has always been important to us. It means that we receive an annual independent assessment of our hostel and provides a recognised grading system for visitors thinking about booking to stay with us.
In our time at Saddle Mountain Hostel we’ve had regular visits from the VisitScotland team to inspect us. Sometimes these are scheduled meetings, giving us time to prepare. Sometimes they are incognito trips where the inspector stays for the night and only announces who they are when they are checking out. We’ve had three of these incognito trips now, including this year’s assessment. They’re definitely more nerve wracking than a standard visit as the inspector will have a good look around without us being present!
Now that we’ve got 5 stars, we’ll be working hard to maintain them. The annual VisitScotland Quality Assurance report always gives advice and suggestions for improvements so we’ll be looking to see how we can implement more changes to give our guests an even better experience in the future.
